I really must apologise for not writing a blog for 4 weeks, I was in a state of panic getting ready for the show at the NEC and packing the car, driving both journeys to and from the NEC all the way myself, no Phil this time, he usually does all the longer distance driving, my daughter Louise came to man the stand with me.
Wednesday 1st November
The car was all packed on the Tuesday and I had to leave a bag of samples behind at Louises house when I went to pick her up. We could not get her clothes bag in as well. It was a lovely day and we made good progress, we arrived about 1pm, managed to get to the hall without any trouble, found our stand and unloaded the car.
5 hours later the stand was almost ready, just a few more things to get out in the morning, tired but happy we went to our hotel.
Thursday 2nd November
We had a busy start from 8.15 to finish the set up and were kept busy most of the day, sometimes there were so many people surrounding us we could not get in or out. The show closed at 5.30, 2 very tired people went back to hotel…..zzzzzzz
This continued for the rest of the weekend, We met lots of customers who were pleased to see us there again and lots of new ones. Thank you to everyone who came to chat, we had a very tiring but wonderful time.
The way home was not so good the sat nav took us the wrong way and was trying to send us home on the M62 not a good road for me to drive on, I could not work out how to get another way so we went via the A66 and came back from the lakes it took over 6 hours and we only had one stop, I was really amazed that I could drive for that long. It was another lovely day and the journey was pleasant…. Pat on the back for us I think…. after being nervous about being able to manage it together we did it…….
Thank you everyone for making Louises first show with me so enjoyable.
It has taken me 2 weeks to find a home for new stock and stocktake the patterns and yarns that come home with us. I am almost there I think but there is always a but isn’t there, we seem to have ordered lots more… oh dear where is it all going to go….
Now for other news
We had new patterns for sale at the show, Ava, the penguins and Fred bear sold out, sorry to anyone who wanted these on Saturday and Sunday, they are now in stock both as downloadable PDFs on this site and printed versions on Wool to your door. We also sold out of crochet cotton which is in stock again on Wool to your door.
We took Pom Pom Cushion, a new version of Ava, Caron Cake Squares, Louises Christmas blanket and many more new patterns to the show.
I now have to catch up on all the jobs which were shelved to prepare for Birmingham I have lots of works in progress and need to get the books up to date, sadly my keeping up every month did not happen once the show was booked way back in August.
Wip ( works in progress )
Crochet wrist warmers, I was asked to design some by one of the other stallholders, and remaking plaited scarf in Batik and Batik elements yarn, it is looking good, I like this yarn, it is new to us, I think we may need to stock all the colours. I have 18 squares which need typing up, 3 new pattens to sort out
and lots of super crochet cotton and yarns yet to work designs for, where to start, I have no idea.
I have made a simple scarf using Stylecraft Candy Swirls and thought that I would share it with you
